Federal Stafford Loans [FAFSA Required]: New borrowers and returning borrowers who want to change lenders have the option to choose a lender (bank) of their choice or the Federal Direct Student Loan Program For processing to continue at that time all students interested in a student loan must accept the awarded funds by using Banner Web.
If you choose to accept a Stafford loan (must be accepted at least TWO weeks prior to the last date of attendance for the semester) you must go to http://www.ltu.edu/financial_aid/student_loans.asp for further instructions (please note that this website is under construction at this time) and other lender choices. You will be instructed how to complete the electronic Master Promissory Note (MPN) unless you have previously completed a MPN and do not want to change lenders. You must be enrolled at least half-time (Undergrad >= 6 credit hours, Grad >= 3 credit hours) and admitted to an eligible degree program at LTU to be eligible and your award may be adjusted at any time for adjustments to enrollment status. Please go to www.financialaid.LTU.edu for the latest details and cost savings information for Federal Stafford Loan borrowers through the Michigan Students First (MSF) and Michigan Engineering Incentive (MEI) loan programs.
We are hopeful that the budget issues faced by the State of Michigan will not interfere with your ability to benefit from the MSF or MEI programs, however, these program benefits are subject to availability of funds on an ongoing basis through the State.
Federal PLUS (Parent) Loan [FAFSA Required]: If your parent chooses to accept a parent PLUS loan (must be accepted at least TWO weeks prior to the last date of attendance for the semester), please have your parent go to www.ltu.edu/financial_aid/student_loans.asp for further instructions (please note that this website is under construction at this time) and other lender choices. Your parent will be instructed on how to choose a lender, complete the electronic Master Promissory Note (MPN), unless they have previously completed a MPN with another lender, and do not want to change lenders. PLUS Loan eligibility is subject to parent credit worthiness.
Your parent may request an increase or decrease to the PLUS Loan by notifying the Office of Enrollment Services at 248-204-2280.
Loan Entrance Counseling: All first-time borrowers at Lawrence Tech University must complete an on-line entrance interview. This process will be defined at a later date.
State Grant (Michigan Competitive Scholarship or Michigan Tuition Grant): This is an estimated full-time award pending confirmation from the State of Michigan. You must be enrolled at least six (6) credit hours for undergraduate or three (3) credit hours for graduate students to receive this award. Your award will be prorated down for enrollment of less than full-time. The State of Michigan will send you a letter to confirm your eligibility. If you did not list LTU as your first choice on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), you need to contact the State at 1-888-447-2687 to notify them that you will be attending Lawrence Technological University (school code: 002279). Funding for FAFSA filers filing after March 1st is limited.
Michigan Merit and Promise Awards: If you are eligible for this award based on your MEAP Test scores you will be notified by the State of Michigan. You must contact the State of Michigan at 1-888-447-2687 to designate LTU as your school of choice. Your award will be disbursed in accordance with your notice from the State.
Work Study Awards: Work Study employment is subject to the availability of jobs and funding at LTU. You must contact Career Services at (248) 204-3140 to initiate the job search process. You will be paid through the Payroll department as you earn your awarded funds depending on the number of hours worked and your rate of pay. Work Study funds awarded on the Award Notice are not paid directly to your student account.
Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP): Students are expected to maintain SAP to continue receiving financial aid. Undergraduates must maintain a GPA of at least 2.0 and graduate students must maintain a GPA of 2.75 or greater. All students must complete 67% of all classes attempted to remain eligible for financial aid. If you do not meet the SAP requirements, you may lose your financial aid eligibility for the next academic semester. Students are also expected to make normal progress toward graduation without exceeding the normal length of program by 150%. Go to www.financialaid.LTU.edu for additional SAP details.
Book Card: To obtain a book card, check your book card eligibility at the DTE Energy One-Stop Center. To be eligible, your financial aid must exceed the amount of your tuition/fees by the amount of the book card desired.
LTU Scholarships: You must meet the requirements set forth by the Scholarship Committee. If you are on co-op or enrolled less than full-time, you may not be eligible for your scholarship for the semester. Also, you must meet the Academic Progress requirements established by the Scholarship Committee. For any LTU scholarship questions or concerns, please contact Dr. Jerry Crist at (248) 204-3604. Receipt of scholarship funds may affect your eligibility for other financial aid programs. Your financial aid package is subject to revision at any time.
Other Scholarships and Funding: You must notify the Office of Enrollment Services of any other scholarship, company billing, or employer reimbursement funds received from all sources (including employee benefits that cover tuition and/or non-tuition costs) not listed on this award notice. Please notify the Office of Enrollment Servicesd in writing stating the source and the amount received from each source for the semester. Receipt of scholarship(s) and other resources may affect your eligibility for financial aid. Your financial aid package may be subject to revision at any time to adjust for additional resources received.
